Sheldwich F.C. took on Maidstone Prison Officers Football Club (Maidstone POFC) in what proved to be a tough but memorable encounter.
From the first whistle, it was clear that SFC had met opponents several tiers above themselves. Maidstone fielded a young, energetic, and well-drilled squad, who had clearly played a lot of football together and showed no apparent weakness across their formation.
The opening stages were relatively even, with SFC managing to utilise the wings and exploit pockets of space to bypass a super tightly packed Maidstone midfield. However, the pressure from Maidstone POFC soon intensified, pressing high up the pitch and allowing SFC barely a moment on the ball.
The deadlock was broken with a beautiful strike from the edge of the SFC penalty area, dipping perfectly under the bar with little the keeper could do to stop it. Maidstone maintained their relentless pressure, taking advantage of two corners to push their goal tally further.
At this point, it was clear that SFC were outmatched on the pitch, but spirits remained high, with the team determined to enjoy an evening of competitive football. By half-time, SFC were trailing by a significant margin, and a much-needed break to regroup was welcomed.
They say football is a game of two halves, and never has that been truer than in this match. SFC returned for the second half looking far more settled, having acclimatised to the shock of their opponents' first-half performance. They began to show far greater composure on the ball, holding possession for extended spells and managing to slow Maidstone’s advances.
Around the 60-minute mark, several substitutions injected fresh legs onto the pitch, and sparks of excellent football and passing play began to emerge. A wonderful long-range effort rattled the Maidstone crossbar, and the rebound was tucked away, rewarding SFC’s vastly improved second-half showing with a deserved goal.
In all, it was a humbling experience against by far the strongest opposition SFC have faced to date. Nonetheless, as ever with Sheldwich, camaraderie, and the sheer enjoyment of the game mattered far more than the scoreline. We’re already looking forward to our next match!

Sheldwich F.C. returned to face Preson Street North End for a much-anticipated rematch, eager to showcase the progress they've made since their earlier encounter ended in defeat. And from the very first whistle, it was clear that this was not the same Sheldwich side. Trialling new formations and tactics, Sheldwich came flying out of the blocks, looking like a strong, cohesive unit. The first 20 minutes were evenly matched, with both sides battling for control and little separating them. It was a tense stalemate – until Sheldwich broke through. A superb strike from distance opened the scoring, followed shortly by a moment of individual brilliance as a tight-angle finish doubled the lead. With the score at 2-0, momentum was firmly in SFC's favour as they pressed with energy and intent.
However, a raft of substitutions from Sheldwich disrupted the rhythm, allowing PSNE to seize a window of opportunity. The home side struck back with a long-range effort, shifting the momentum and unsettling the flow. In quick succession, they added two more goals to take a 3-2 lead before the break.
The second half began in much the same way the first had ended – a tight midfield battle with both sides scrapping for control. PSNE’s more experienced players made their presence felt, and their pressure eventually told as they extended their lead to 4-2. But Sheldwich refused to fold.
Showing tremendous grit and determination, the visitors continued to fight. As the game entered the final 15 minutes, Sheldwich found a second wind. Sustained pressure forced a mistake from the PSNE defence, and a slick passage of play inside the box left the goalkeeper stranded as Sheldwich pulled one back to make it 4-3.
The closing moments were tense and frenetic. Both teams were stretched, searching for the decisive goal – PSNE to seal it, Sheldwich to rescue a deserved point. Despite throwing everything forward in the dying minutes, Sheldwich couldn’t quite find the equaliser.
While the result ended in a narrow defeat, every player in a red and black shirt can be immensely proud of the performance. The improvement since the sides last met was striking, and the belief, resilience, and unity on display are clear signs of the direction Sheldwich F.C. are heading. On another day, that result could easily have gone the other way.
The journey continues – and Sheldwich F.C. are most definitely on the rise.

Sheldwich F.C. returned to the glorious Aquatherm Stadium for an internal friendly, splitting the squad into home and away teams under the bright spring sunshine. This was a perfect opportunity to showcase our stunning new away kits, which were worn with immense pride.
The first half was evenly contested, with the home side controlling the midfield while the away team looked to exploit gaps with teasing long balls. The breakthrough came for the away side, who took a 0-1 lead into halftime, but with the match finely poised, it could have gone either way.
After the restart, the away team soon doubled their advantage, making it 0-2. The home side responded quickly, pulling a goal back and displaying some excellent passing play, but despite their efforts, they were denied by some outstanding saves from the goalkeeper. As the home team pushed forward, the away side capitalised on the space, breaking forward to net two more goals, sealing a 1-4 victory.
But the true winner was football itself. The game was played in great spirits, full of encouragement, teamwork, and energy. It was a fantastic display of camaraderie, and everyone involved left the pitch with big smiles and a shared appreciation for the game.
We’re already looking forward to our next internal friendly, where the support, competition, and fun will once again take centre stage.

Sheldwich F.C. returned to action in style as they took on Canterbury Morrison at the impressive Aquatherm Stadium, home of Faversham Town F.C. It was a fantastic opportunity for the squad to play on a pristine surface, and it didn’t take long for both teams to settle into a rhythm, showcasing some wonderful touch football and fluid passing movements. The Sheldwich supporters, including friends, families, and squad members not involved on the day, were in full voice from the sidelines, offering fantastic encouragement throughout the match.
The game was fast-paced from the outset, with both sides looking strong, but it was Sheldwich who broke the deadlock following a cross from the right wing that was eventually headed over the line. The cheers from the Sheldwich supporters echoed around the stadium, spurring the team on further.
At no point did Morrison’s heads drop, however, as they kept the fight and battle alive in the game. They brought the match level again with a lob from the edge of the box. Some excellent link-up play and passing movement allowed Sheldwich to regain the lead just before halftime.
The second half opened with a couple of goals in quick succession from Morrison, who were able to get back up to speed a little quicker than the Sheldwich dads. One was a notable wonder strike from well outside the box. Their period of pressing play continued throughout the initial stages of the second half, with the Sheldwich keeper making some impressive saves to keep the home team in the game.
As the match entered the latter stages, things began to open up a little. With tired legs on both sides, spaces began to appear, and the game moved rapidly from end to end. Sheldwich were able to capitalise on a loose ball in the Morrison box and put away a neat finish to bring the game even. The supporters on the touchline were in full voice, urging the team forward as they battled to the final whistle.
A number of set pieces towards the end of the match at both ends made for a nervous countdown to the final whistle, with the game on a knife-edge.
Overall, it was a hard-fought battle, with great football from both sides. A fantastic game for the spectators, of whom there were many, with the Sheldwich school well represented and vocal in the stands. In the end, a 3-3 draw was a fair result, with both teams giving everything in an entertaining and competitive match. The tremendous support from the sidelines played a huge role in keeping the team motivated, showing the strength of the Sheldwich F.C. community.

Sheldwich F.C. faced Green Bay F.C. for the fifth time this season and, on this occasion, emerged as the stronger side with a well-earned 4-2 victory.
The match started with some strong challenges as both teams battled for early dominance. The game eventually settled into a balanced contest, but Green Bay struck first, capitalising on a corner where their attackers managed to peel away from their markers to find the net. The frosty pitch made close control difficult, and after the halftime break, Green Bay extended their lead to 2-0.
Despite the deficit, Sheldwich kept their heads and maintained a relentless work rate, a testament to the squad’s commitment to fitness and training. A tactical midfield reshuffle provided fresh attacking impetus, and as the game entered the final 25 minutes, Sheldwich took control. A devastating spell of attacking football saw them fire in four goals in quick succession, turning the match on its head and securing a commanding victory.
The turnaround was fuelled by some brilliant individual play and excellent team movement, with the squad showing increasing cohesion as they continue to develop together. Every player on the pitch put in a shift, and in the end, the result went to the stronger team.
A fantastic performance and a statement win for Sheldwich F.C.!

A frozen pitch greeted Sheldwich F.C. and Cobra Athletic, creating a testing environment where footing and ball control were at the mercy of the icy surface. The unpredictable conditions didn’t seem to faze Cobra Athletic initially, who came out with high intensity, scoring an early goal by capitalising on the unpredictable surface catching-out the Sheldwich defense. Moments later, Cobra Athletic thought they had doubled their lead, but the linesman’s flag ruled their effort offside, giving Sheldwich a chance to regroup and settle into the challenging conditions. Recognising the conditions, Sheldwich opted for a ground-based approach, using quick, precise passing to move through the midfield. The combination play between Sheldwich’s midfielders and forwards began to take its toll, forcing Cobra Athletic deeper into their half. Sustained pressure finally paid off when a well-delivered corner was expertly turned in from the six-yard line, bringing the scores level before halftime.
Emerging from the break with renewed confidence, Sheldwich F.C. turned up the heat. Excellent link-up play through the centre of the pitch saw the team take a deserved 3-1 lead. The attackers displayed brilliant movement, while the midfield orchestrated wave after wave of attacks, keeping the play firmly in Cobra Athletic’s half. Cobra’s attackers, though limited in opportunities, did manage to break forward on a couple of occasions. However, the Sheldwich goalkeeper was equal to the challenge, notably making a superb save to deny a corner that was sneaking in at the front post. This crucial intervention ensured the team maintained their momentum and kept Cobra at bay.
As the game entered its final quarter, Sheldwich introduced fresh legs, adding even more energy to their already dominant display. The substitutes made an instant impact, with one unleashing a strike from just inside the penalty area to extend the lead to 4-1. In the final stages of the game, a sublime free kick sailed over the wall and past the helpless goalkeeper, capping off an emphatic performance and a 5-1 scoreline.
While individual brilliance played its part, the standout feature of the game was Sheldwich F.C.’s cohesion and hunger. Every player contributed to the team’s success, showcasing resilience, adaptability, and a shared determination to succeed.

With a slightly reduced squad available for our internal friendly, we adjusted to an 8-a-side format, creating a fast-paced and dynamic contest that tested the team’s fitness and adaptability. The smaller teams meant everyone had more ground to cover, resulting in plenty of running and a greater emphasis on positioning and teamwork. Despite the lack of substitutes, the squad rose to the challenge, maintaining a strong tempo for the full 90 minutes.
The pitch conditions provided an extra layer of difficulty, with an increasingly familiar mud-laden surface making footing tricky and the ball’s movement unpredictable. Nevertheless, the players embraced the challenge, showcasing some excellent passing sequences and smooth attacking build-ups that created numerous opportunities at both ends. The game was peppered with stunning goals, including several screamers that brought cheers and groans alike—some finding the back of the net and others narrowly missing their mark.
Despite the demanding conditions and inevitable sore legs, the team’s energy and camaraderie shone through. It was a thoroughly enjoyable match and a great way to close out the year on the pitch. With the festive break ahead, everyone is looking forward to recharging and coming back fresh for the next match in January.

Sheldwich FC took on Green Bay FC for their fourth encounter this season, aiming to level their head-to-head record, with Green Bay leading 2-1. On a misty, rain-soaked day with a challenging pitch underfoot, Sheldwich delivered what was arguably their best performance since the club's formation.
The game began with both sides battling for control, but it was Sheldwich who struck first, taking the lead through an opportunistic goal. That breakthrough shifted the momentum, allowing Sheldwich to dominate much of the first half. A fantastic piece of link-up play doubled their advantage, putting them 2-0 ahead and in control.
However, Green Bay refused to back down, and their persistence paid off in the final moments of the half. Two quick goals before the whistle brought the scoreline level at 2-2, giving the home team a renewed sense of belief heading into the break.
After halftime, Green Bay capitalised on their momentum with a tactical reshuffle that allowed them to dominate the midfield. They scored two quick goals early in the second half to take the lead. Their ability to strike from distance caused further challenges, extending their advantage.
Sheldwich’s stand-in goalkeeper was a standout, pulling off several crucial saves, including an incredible penalty stop that kept Sheldwich in the contest. As the match wore on, Sheldwich battled the younger Green Bay team, and despite their tiring legs began to regain their attacking rhythm, creating chances and threatening to even the score. Despite this late surge, the final whistle came with Green Bay holding the upper hand.

In a tightly contested high-scoring internal friendly, Sheldwich FC players faced off against one another in a match where the only thing separating the two sides was a single goal at the final whistle. The pitch was bobbly, making it challenging for players to maintain tight control of the ball at times, but both teams battled through the conditions with determination.
Standout individual performances shone through, although the game saw a number of injuries, leading to several stoppages as players took knocks and bangs—though all well-intentioned and in good spirits. The match had an exciting atmosphere, with plenty of moments of skill despite the interruptions.
The PTA played a huge part in the event, running a snack stall to keep everyone fueled and energised. School staff, friends, family, and supporters were in attendance to cheer on the players. In the spirit of community, everyone also contributed to a wonderful cause, bringing along toys and teddy bears to donate to Sheldwich Primary School's Christmas fair fundraiser later this month.
It was a fun and spirited affair, where everyone came together for both the love of football and the chance to give back to the local community.
